Yto Barrada, AutoCar, Tangier, 2004

Barrada's prints depict common imagery found on tour buses in her native Morocco. Her work comments on Western tourism as the sustianing economic force for such countries as her own. While the Moroccan government steps up its tourist industry, attracting Westerners free to travel as they please, many thousands of Moroccan immigrants attempt to make the illegal and perilous journey across the Strait every year.
