West Yellowstone, Montana lies adjacent to Yellowstone National Park and is charmingly stuck in a time warp – here a small-town vibe mixes with old-school signage. You’ll find the ultimate glamping experience (a beautiful haven tucked in the mountains) only ten minutes up the road from the main park entrance. Yellowstone Under Canvas has plenty of luxury amenities, making sleeping outdoors seem almost too comfortable to be true. With beautiful tents and a rustic energy, the site is perfect for those of us who want a camping experience without the hassle of a backpack and tent.

Tim Trojian and Eliza Clark found the gorgeous old building in the heart of the Catskills that is now Foxfire in 2013. Their goal was to find a way to work together daily, and fall into bed together nightly and be truly partnered in love and business. Foxfire offered that possibility.

After renovating the 11-room inn together, learning as they went and being extremely hands-on DIY with most projects from laying Moroccan tile, to pouring a concrete bar, to designing custom beds and light fixtures, Foxfire Mountain House and Bar Room officially opened in May 2016.

The city presents itself as a blend of utopia and dystopia, whereby modernity undoubtedly cherishes and applauds its dystopian rather than its utopian aspects—urban decadence, danger, and haunting eeriness. The first thing that strikes you is, yes, that’s how things always used to be here and that’s how they will stay—all these colorful types, the picturesque city ruins and danger looming at every corner.
